This month we have over 25 venues with a wide range of visual and performance art. Don’t forget to take a trip down the Art Alley in SW 152nd St Alley between 4th and 6th ave SW to check out ten pieces created by artist in the Seattle Metro with a few coming from artists native to Burien.

We’ll have an info booth set up in front of HomeTask at 611 SW 152nd St if you want to connect with some of the fine Burien folks who help put on the B-Town Beat.


Finally, we need the whole communities support to make the B-Town Beat successful! Make sure to get the word out about the event and try to visit every venue participating.

Poverty Bay Blues and Brews Fest

The Des Moines Rotary Club invites you to attend the 4th Annual Poverty Bay Blues and Brews Fest. This event is the prime fundraiser for our Music4Life program, expanding music to youth in our local schools. Enjoy a day filled with local blues together with a variety of fine brews from local breweries.

To complement your blues and brews, we will be barbecuing Bratwurst and B&E Market's famous Tri Tip for your dining enjoyment. The Festival will be located on the shores of Puget Sound at the Des Moines Beach Park. This is an outdoor event and will be held rain or shine, you must be 21 or older to attend. Tickets are $25 in advance; $30 at the gate. Six tasting tokens included with the price of admission.

El Dorado West Celebrates Grand Opening with Sounders FC Coach Sigi Schmid

Soccer fanatics, families, parents, grandparents and community members of all ages are invited to join Seattle Sounders FC Head Coach Sigi Schmid and Village Concepts as the El Dorado West community opens the doors of its brand new building. Coach Sigi brings insight as a leader in the community to the event, which includes opening remarks, refreshments, appetizers, autographs and giveaways including four tickets to an upcoming Seattle Sounders game in the Coach’s Box.

The new $14 million El Dorado West building is a 95,000 square foot facility with 102 residences and onsite amenities and services, including a recreational activity center, wellness center, industry-leading physical therapy program, beauty parlor and more. The architect for the project is Charles Morgan and Associates from Everett, Wash., Exxel Pacific from Seattle is the general contractor and Simple Simpatico from Federal Way, Wash. is the designer.

Construction on phase two is scheduled to be completed in August 2014. El Dorado West’s Grand Opening is on Thursday, September 12th from 4 to 7 p.m. and is open to the public.

Burien has many health service providers who need highly-skilled employees. Residents can learn about many of the health care and wellness resources available in Burien at the Wellness Fair on Saturday, September 21st, 2013.

It’s that time of year again to celebrate the venerable German tradition of Oktoberfest. The original “Oktoberfest” occurred in Munich, on October 18, 1810 to celebrate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese. Today more than six million people attend the sixteen-day festival during late September. According to recent estimates, nearly 7 million liters of beer are consumed during the festival!

Our humble festivities in Burien will take place Saturday, September 28. Look for live music, special beers and food, and an outdoor beer garden!
