Marketing Alert!The Yarn Stash

Each May the Yarn Stash teams up with other local yarn shops in the Puget Sound Area and have a tour.

The tour brings in several hundred customers over four days - last year just a little over 400.

Bonnie and Beth are more than happy to feature coupons or special offers from the local merchants for us to hand out in their goodie bags.

"All we ask is that merchants drop them by about (May 15) a week before the tour so we could get the bags assembled.  The goodie bags were a huge hit and brought quite a few people back to Burien after the tour." say Bonnie and Beth

Cyndi Upthegrove with Highline Historical Society asked if we could spread the word that the design for the Historical Society's Museum is up for an award. Below are the details.

Confetti Celebration

The entries to the annual AIA "What Makes It Green" Program have been posted on the AIA web site at
the following link:
   http://wmig.aiaseattle.org/2010_gallery

We have submitted the Highline Heritage Museum project as representative of our efforts in the world of sustainable design.  The jury has already selected the "Top Eleven" projects from a pool of entries from all over the region including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, British Columbia, Hawaii, Japan and Guam.

The "Top Ten" (or in this case eleven) are supposed to be announced the week of May 5th  in coordination
with juried interviews at Seattle City Hall.

Per the AIA: "2010 WMIG? program recognizes projects that demonstrate the highest accomplishment in environmentally sustainable architecture, combining inspired design, systems analysis, and
performance evaluation.....

Another opportunity for the project lies with Colleagues, Associates, Friends, Family and the General Public through the "People's Choice Award".   I would ask that you please take the opportunity to go to the link above and vote for your favorite project.  If you need help deciding, please let me know and I'll weigh in :-)

We appreciate in advance your taking the time on our behalf.

Regards,

Clean Sweep Cheers!Ole Clean Sweep!

Swept Away By Community Pride

Thanks to everyone who came out on April 24th to lend a hand or two to give Burien a thorough Spring Cleaning.  We had hundreds of volunteers from all over Burien and the Puget Sound.  Coming together to in a show of pride in their community were Burien City Councilmembers and staff, members of the Iglesia ni Criston Church, Girl Scouts, police cadets, moms, dads, kids, retirees, teams and individuals who just wanted to give their time to make sure Burien sparkles regardless of the elusive sunshine.

Kudos to Debra George for putting together another great Discover Burien event.  The morning before the event Debra took an extended tour of Burien to see what was being tossed out and get a better idea of what the volunteers could expect.  To her happy surprise, the usual trash, old copiers, furniture and construction debris was less than it had ever been before!
