Whats New in Burien Burien Welcomes North Highline Area to the City
On April 1, 2010, the North Highline area is to annexed by the City of Burien. The North Highline area is just to the north of Burien and was in unincorporated King County. Burien will gain 1,700 acres for a total of 6,462 acres and approximately 14,100 persons for a total population of about 45,650.
Whats New in Burien Shoreline Master Program Update
The City is in the process of updating its Shoreline Master Program. The Planning Commission currently is formulating a recommendation to the City Council on the draft program after receiving public testimony at a hearing on January 12th. Additional public hearings will be conducted by the City Council and the state Department of Ecology.

Discover Local Burien Events

Burien Clean Sweep
Saturday, April 24th - 8 am to 1 pm
Burien Clean Sweep is a city-wide clean-up morning. Volunteers gather at 8:00 a.m. at the fire station and one or two other staging areas for coffee, juice, donuts, etc. They are then assigned to a team and given gloves, garbage bags, buckets, brooms and safety vests.
Burien Farmers Market
Thursdays, May 6th to October 14th
Burien Farmers' Market - every Thursday from the beginning of May through mid-October. The Farmers' Market has developed into a very successful market with 40 to 50 vendors each week. Vendors include a food booth, handmade goods, farm fresh produce and fresh baked products.
Father's Day Car Show
Sunday June 20 - 10 am to 4 pm
More than 200 cars are on display for this event which takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on 152nd between 4th SW and 8th SW and on 6th SW between 152nd and 153rd (all of which are closed off for the day).
Lunchtime Concert Series
Tuesday's, July 13 - August 10 from Noon to 2 pm
Bring your lunch to the Burien Town Square Park and enjoy the music and fun while you eat and relax.
